The magnitude of the quake was 8.7 on the Richter scale. The effects of this natural disaster have also been seen in some countries, including the United States and Japan. Huge tsunami waves have been seen on the Russian coast after the earthquake. According to the US Geological Survey, destructive tsunami waves can reach the coastal areas of Russia and Japan in the next three hours.
