Who is this Binod?
The real name of Binod of Phulera village is Ashok Pathak. Even though his family is from Bihar, Ashok was born in Faridabad, Haryana. He came to Hisar in his childhood and completed his studies from there.
Ashok had told in an interview that his father had come to Haryana from Bihar for employment, because at that time there were not many opportunities for work in Bihar.
People of Bihar then used to come to Delhi or Haryana to find work. Ashok says that he is influenced by the culture of both Bihar and Haryana, but his birthplace and work place are both Haryana.
Journey from 40% marks to theatre!
Ashok, while talking about his old life, says that he was not interested in studies in childhood. When he got only 40% marks in 12th, he thought that he would not get admission anywhere.
But see his luck, he got admission in a college in Lucknow, and it was here that he came to know about theatre for the first time!
Until 12th, Ashok did not even know the 'A' of acting. But after coming to Lucknow, he participated in many plays and cultural programs and also won many acting awards.
Ashok says that after 10th, he never took money from his father for studies. When his fees in college were waived due to acting, his happiness knew no bounds.
After that, he kept becoming the best actor for three consecutive years. From here, it became clear to him that he has to make a career in acting.
From selling cotton to earning lakhs!
Ashok also told in the conversation that when he was in 9th class, his mind used to get distracted from studies. To meet his expenses, he sold cotton for which he used to get Rs 100. However, while doing theatre in Lucknow, he was so lucky that he got his first show 'Shudra the Rising' as soon as he completed his graduation.
Recalling his first pay-cheque, he says that he got Rs 2500 for a promo shoot. But the very next advertisement got him Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand! This was the biggest achievement of his career.
From Bihar to Cannes Film Festival!
Ashok told that he did not have to face much difficulties in his career. Even though he was from outside the industry, one door after another opened for him. The proudest moment for him was when his film 'Sister Midnight' premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
First step in Hindi cinema
Binod i.e. Ashok Pathak started his career in the year 2012 with the film Bittu Binod. After that, he has appeared in many films and web series like Shanghai, A Death in the Gunj, and Saat Uchchake.
