Pension Hike: After a lifetime of hard work, many individuals rely on their pensions and savings during retirement to cover their daily expenses. Consequently, if their pension falls short, retirees may struggle to manage their costs.
For those with a family member receiving a pension under EPS-95, surviving on the current minimum pension is challenging, especially with inflation on the rise. In response to this issue, pensioners are calling for an increase. Many are curious if the government has announced any adjustments to pensions.

Request for pension increase from Rs 1000 to Rs 7500
Currently, EPS-95 pensioners receive a minimum pension of Rs 1000, which they are advocating to be raised to Rs 7500. Lok Sabha MP Ramveer Singh Bidhuri has questioned the government about any plans to raise the EPS-95 pension. Many are now eager to know the government’s response to this inquiry.
The Minister of State for Labor and Employment shared some key information. He mentioned that the government also contributes to the EPS. The employer adds 8.33 percent to the pension fund, while the central government contributes 1.16 percent. From fashionable clothing to shoes and bags, these markets in Delhi are affordable for college students.
What’s the latest on the Rs 7500 pension increase?
As of now, no decision has been made to raise the minimum pension to Rs 7500. This means that the government has yet to announce any increase in pensions.
What benefits would come from a pension increase?
If the minimum pension were to rise from Rs 1000 to Rs 7500, pensioners would receive an additional Rs 6500 each month. This increase would significantly boost their monthly income, allowing them to better cover their essential daily expenses. But this benefit will be available only when the government fulfills the demand of minimum pension from Rs 1000 to Rs 7500. At present, until the government fulfills this demand of the pensioners, they will have to manage their expenses with only Rs 1000.
