The recent passage of the Online Gaming Bill 2025 by the Indian Parliament has sent ripples across the digital entertainment industry. The new law effectively bans "money gaming" apps—platforms where users deposit money to play games of chance with the hope of winning financial rewards.
This has led to major platforms like Dream11, MPL, Games24x7 (operators of RummyCircle), and Junglee Rummy immediately suspending their paid, real-money gaming contests. A pressing question on the minds of millions of users is: "What happens to the money I have already deposited in these apps? Will I get it back?"
User Funds Are Protected and Withdrawable
A key aspect of the new regulations is that they target the operation of real-money games, not the legitimate funds users have stored in their wallets. The government's intent is to curb gambling, not to confiscate user deposits. Major gaming companies have issued statements assuring users of the safety of their money and have provided mechanisms to withdraw it.
Here’s what specific platforms have announced:
Dream11: The fantasy sports giant has halted its paid contests. They have clearly stated that users can withdraw the money present in their Dream11 accounts. The process remains functional through their app or website.
MPL (Mobile Premier League): MPL has suspended all real-money games. The company has assured users that their balances are "100% secure" and can be withdrawn easily without any hassle. Users are encouraged to initiate withdrawals from their accounts.
Games24x7 (RummyCircle): The parent company of popular platforms like RummyCircle has also stopped real-money games. They have confirmed that player funds are secure and that withdrawal facilities are fully operational.
Junglee Rummy: Following the bill's passage, Junglee Rummy has blocked all paid games. However, users can still access free games. Most importantly, the platform allows users to withdraw their existing deposited balances.
How to Withdraw Your Money
The process to withdraw funds remains the same as it was before the ban:
Log in to your gaming app account.
Navigate to your wallet or account balance section.
Select the 'Withdraw' option.
Choose your preferred bank account and enter the amount.
Confirm the withdrawal request.
The processing time may vary depending on the platform and your bank, but the functionality is active.
