Next-Gen Hyundai Creta: The Hyundai Creta is set to undergo its most significant transformation yet. The next-generation model is currently undergoing continuous testing in India, Europe, and the United States, and the camouflage is gradually being stripped away from pre-production units.
Key expected features include a boxy design, the K3 platform, Pleos Connect, an AR HUD, and a hybrid powertrain that offers a mileage of over 25 kmpl. The new Creta’s design differs significantly from the current model; Hyundai is aiming for a more mature, upright, and boxy SUV aesthetic.
New Boxy Design
In terms of design, the new generation appears more upright and traditional SUV-like compared to the current model. Hyundai has used smoother, more sculpted body panels and reduced the amount of heavy body cladding.
The front profile features a thick, illuminated upper light bar with mid-mounted headlights positioned beneath it. The lower section of the bumper houses an active shutter grille and a lower front splitter, features expected to enhance the SUV’s aerodynamics.
The side profile showcases flush-fitting door handles, an upward-sweeping beltline, and sharp A-pillars. Additionally, aerodynamic alloy wheels and a flatter roofline contribute to the SUV’s boxier stance.
Cabin
The interior of the new Hyundai Creta is also expected to receive a major technological upgrade. Spy shots reveal a clean dashboard layout, with the standout feature being a large, tablet-style floating touchscreen.
This infotainment system is expected to feature Hyundai’s new Android-based ‘Pleos Connect’ ecosystem, which integrates connected car technology and smart features into a single platform.
The SUV is also expected to come equipped with features such as a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, a Bose audio system, dual-zone climate control, and wireless phone charging. Furthermore, it will include a digital instrument console and an Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR HUD).
K3 Platform
The next-gen Hyundai Creta is expected to be built on the new K3 platform. A major advantage of this platform could be its longer wheelbase, which would provide better space for second-row passengers.
Multi-Powertrain Strategy
Regarding the powertrain, Hyundai is expected to adopt a multi-powertrain strategy for the new Creta rather than launching it with just a single engine option. The existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine, and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine are expected to be carried over to the new generation.
The most significant change could be the introduction of a hybrid powertrain. This setup is expected to combine the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with an electric motor and a small battery pack.
Gearbox Options
The new Creta may offer various transmission options tailored to the different engines. These are expected to include a 6-speed manual, CVT, 6-speed automatic, and 7-speed DCT. This variety will help Hyundai cater to a diverse range of customers.
