New Toyota Fortuner 2027 Debut on December 1, Full Details Inside

New Toyota Fortuner 2027: Toyota is set to introduce a new model of its SUV, the Fortuner. The global debut of the new Toyota Fortuner will take place on December 1, 2026. This SUV is expected to feature a new design, a larger touchscreen, and safety features such as ADAS. It may also come with a powerful engine and a 4×4 option. However, details regarding its launch date and pricing in India have not yet been revealed.

Launch Date

Regarding its launch, the new-generation Toyota Fortuner will make its global debut on December 1, 2026, as confirmed by Toyota South Africa. At present, the company has not disclosed a launch date for India; therefore, there are no details available yet on when it will enter the Indian market.

IMV Platform

The new Toyota Fortuner is expected to utilise the company’s IMV ladder-frame chassis—the same platform used in models like the Toyota Hilux and the Land Cruiser FJ. A ladder-frame chassis is particularly well-regarded for its robustness and superior performance on rough terrain.

Exterior of the 2027 Toyota Fortuner

In terms of design, the SUV is expected to feature a wide, mesh-pattern grille at the front, flanked by large, vertically-oriented elements and angular headlamps. Horizontal daytime running lights (DRLs) may be positioned below the bonnet, while the front bumper could incorporate horizontal design elements and a skid plate. The front profile may bear a resemblance to the new Toyota Hilux and other global SUVs from the brand.

Changes are also expected in the rear design. A new tailgate, an updated bumper, a connected LED light bar, and a roof-mounted spoiler are likely to give the rear a fresh, new look. In terms of its side profile, the vehicle is expected to feature a high-set bonnet, a straight roofline, large wheel arches, and improved ground clearance.

New Fortuner Interior

The cabin of the new Toyota Fortuner is also expected to undergo significant changes. According to reports, the dashboard layout may resemble that of the new Toyota Hilux. It is likely to include a large touchscreen infotainment unit and a fully digital instrument cluster.

As for features, the SUV may offer options such as a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable and ventilated front seats, ventilated second-row seats, and a powered tailgate. However, it is not yet clear whether all these features will be available across every variant.

Safety

A major update for the new Toyota Fortuner could be the inclusion of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Reports suggest it may feature a radar and camera-based system designed to alert the driver to road hazards and help prevent accidents in certain scenarios.

Expected features include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and blind-spot monitoring. Other potential safety features include multiple airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and front and rear parking sensors.

Engine and Gearbox

The new Fortuner is expected to retain its current engine options, though the specific engines and their technical specifications for the Indian market have yet to be confirmed. For the diesel variant, it is anticipated that a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system will be offered.

This engine generates 204 hp of power and 500 Nm of torque. A second option could be a 2.7-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 164 bhp of power and 245 Nm of torque. This engine is expected to be offered with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
