Nana Patekar Death Investigation – Nana Patekar Saheb is no longer with us. Everyone was heartbroken after hearing this news. At the age of 75, he breathed his last at his home in Goa. The cause of death is said to be cardiac arrest. But now there has been a new twist in this matter. Panaji Police has registered a case of unnatural death, and an investigation has started. Knowing this, a question will arise in your mind: why did the police do this? Let us understand the whole matter.

Police were called from the hospital

According to police records, at around 8:07 am on October 8, 2026, the doctor of Manipal Hospital had informed the police. The information was that a person named Vishwanath Gajanan Patekar was brought to the hospital and was declared dead. Nana’s real name was Vishwanath Patekar. He was brought to Manipal Hospital in Bambolim from his home, ‘Ocean Park’ in Dona Paula.

He had already died before reaching the hospital; hence, as per the medical protocol, it was necessary to make it a medico-legal case. This is the reason why Goa Police has registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Indian Civil Defence Code. Its investigation is going on under the leadership of Police Sub-Inspector Nitin Naik.

After all, what happened in his last moments?

Doctors have told the entire story of his last moments. According to Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Chief of Oncology Department of Manipal Hospital, Nana Saheb had messaged a friend at around 2:30 in the night that he was not feeling well. But it was nighttime, so the friend did not see the message in time. When he reached his house at 4 in the morning, Nana was lying unconscious on the ground and drenched in sweat. He somehow called the caretaker and called an ambulance.

When the medical team from the hospital reached his home, Nana was already unconscious, and there was no reaction from his body. The team started giving CPR there, and after giving CPR, they took him to the hospital. Even after reaching the hospital, CPR was given continuously for about 45 minutes, but his heartbeat did not return. He was declared dead at 5:20 am.

Last rites were performed with state honours

Nana Patekar’s last wish was that his last rites be performed at his farmhouse in Pune. The family fully respected his wish. His mortal remains were brought from Goa to the farmhouse in Donje village of Pune, where he was cremated with state honours late on Thursday night. His son Malhar Patekar lit the funeral pyre. On this occasion, many big leaders and personalities from the film industry, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, were present. Slogans of ‘Nana Amar Rahe’ were heard at the farmhouse.

Now what next?

In this case, the police will now record the statements of the family members and other people related to the incident. The post-mortem report is also being awaited. If the investigation proves that the death occurred due to natural causes, then the case will be closed. But if any kind of suspicion or irregularity comes to light, legal action can be taken further. At present, everyone is waiting to know what the real cause of death is, as revealed in the post-mortem report. Nana Patekar’s demise is a big loss not just for Bollywood but for the entire country.
