NAFEX Portal: The wait is over. Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, inaugurated the auction website nafex.in of the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED). He highlighted that NAFED has introduced four new ventures in the form of nafex.in, Drishti, ERP, and NAFED Kalyan.
Shah mentioned the remarkable turnaround of NAFED from facing a shutdown in 2014 to now supporting 7.4 million farmers nationwide, generating a profit of Rs 500 crore and a turnover of Rs 30,000 crore. In 2014, NAFED was in dire financial straits, but with support from the Indian government after discussions with PM Modi, it was revived and strengthened.

Reflecting on his past role as party president during NAFED’s crisis, Minister Shah expressed plans for the Ministry of Cooperation to ensure that pulses are procured directly from farmers rather than through intermediaries in the next two years, ensuring direct benefits for farmers. This streamlined approach is expected to boost pulse cultivation and lead to self-sufficiency in pulses for the country.
