DA Hike: Good news for state government employees. Madhya Pradesh’s 1.2 million employees and pensioners have been advocating for their dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) to match those of the central government. Recently, the central government approved a 3 percent DA increase for its employees ahead of Diwali.
DA Hike Announcement Soon
As a result, employees in Madhya Pradesh are now hopeful for a similar rise in their DA and DR before the state’s foundation day on November 1st. Currently, Madhya Pradesh employees receive a DA of 58 percent. The demand for an increase in Madhya Pradesh arose immediately after the Centre’s announcement of a 3 percent DA hike.
It’s important to highlight that the central government has raised the DA and DR for its employees and pensioners by three percent, which raises the DA for central employees from 60 to 63 percent, effective July 1, 2026. In contrast, Madhya Pradesh employees are still at 58 percent DA, creating a five percent gap between the two. Umashankar Tiwari, the state general secretary of the Third Class Employees Union, remarked, “State employees have been falling behind the central rates for the last 10 months. We are requesting that state employees and pensioners receive DA and DR benefits at the same rate and effective date as those of the central government.”
Anticipated to rise by two percent on Foundation Day
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is expected to offer a gift to Madhya Pradesh employees on the state’s foundation day, November 1st. Official sources suggest that a two percent increase in DA is likely. However, this has yet to be officially confirmed by the government. Meanwhile, employee organizations are insisting that the five percent gap be closed and that full benefits be granted. In the past, employees have staged protests in the capital regarding DA and other issues. Now, the State Officers-Employees Pensioners Joint Front is also gearing up to demonstrate in front of Satpura Bhawan in Bhopal on November 4th to advocate for their demands.
