Government's big step to protect indigenous cows
In the picture, it can be seen how the Uttar Pradesh government is giving priority to the conservation of indigenous cows. Only indigenous breeds like Sahiwal, Gir and Tharparkar have been included under this scheme. The government wants these cows to reach farmers because they breed better and give more milk. Actually, the idea behind this initiative is that our indigenous breeds should be promoted and they should not become extinct. The direct benefit of this is that farmers will get good quality cows and milk production will increase.
11.80 lakh from Government at a cost of Rs. 23.60 lakh
In the picture, you can see how the government is giving a subsidy of ₹11.80 lakh (50%) on the total dairy unit cost of ₹23.60 lakh. That is, you will have to invest only ₹3.54 lakh (15%). The remaining ₹8.26 lakh (35%) will be through bank loans. Just think, you can start your own dairy business in such a small amount. That is, the government has significantly reduced the financial burden of farmers. We have noticed that with such financial help, small farmers can also build a big business.
The subsidy will be directly credited to the bank account through DBT
The picture shows that this subsidy will be sent directly to the farmers' bank account (DBT) in two installments, not simultaneously. This is the best thing about the scheme, as there is no interference of middlemen. The first instalment will be available when the dairy shed and other structures are ready. The second installment after the purchase of cows. The government will ensure that the money is spent properly. That is to say, transparency is the biggest feature of this scheme.
Eligibility: Which farmers will benefit?
In the photo you can see the eligibility conditions. To take advantage of this scheme, the applicant must have at least three years of cow or buffalo rearing experience. This experience should be certified by the Chief Veterinary Officer. That is, preference will be given not only to amateurs, but also to experienced farmers. However, it has to be noted that if you have already taken the benefit of any other dairy scheme, then you will not be eligible for this scheme.
Condition of the land: How much land is needed?
In this picture, important conditions related to land have been explained. To build a dairy unit, you must have at least 0.20 acres of land. Apart from this, 0.80 acre more land is required for green fodder cultivation. Of course, this land can be your own, ancestral or taken on a seven-year agreement. Most importantly, this land should not be water-logged. Because, clean and dry place is very important for cows.
Which cows can you buy?
It is clearly visible in the picture that the government has made some special rules for cows. The cow to be purchased should be the first or second time calf donor and must have been delivered recently, i.e. within the last 45 days. Apart from this, insurance and ear tagging of all cows will be mandatory. That is, you can not buy a sick or weak cow. This ensures that the farmer gets good and healthy cows, which are capable of giving milk. Imagine, if the cow is not healthy, how will she give milk?
Application process: Both online and offline
In the photo you can see both ways of application. The government will soon launch an online portal for this. Till then, farmers can submit applications offline by visiting the office of the Chief Development Officer (CDO) or Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) or through registered post. And that's pretty easy, right? Well, in case of more applications, eligible beneficiaries will be selected through e-lottery. That is, the selection will be completely transparent.
What are the main objectives of the programme?
The intentions of the government are clearly visible in the photo. The main objective of this scheme launched under the Nand Baba Milk Mission is to increase the income of farmers and create employment in rural areas. By the way, another big objective is also the protection of indigenous cows. When farmers rear these cows and earn from them, they will be motivated to preserve them. That is, it is a scheme that takes care of economic development as well as environment and culture.
Bank loans to farmers
This picture shows the process of a bank loan. As we mentioned, 35% of the total cost will come from bank loans. This means that farmers will have to go to the bank and apply for a loan. However, after getting such a huge subsidy, there will be no problem in getting a bank loan, as there will be a government guarantee. This ensures that no farmer is deprived of this scheme due to lack of money.
Dairy Business Outline
In the last picture an entire dairy unit is imagined. The unit of 10 cows will have an excellent shed, green fodder arrangement and modern equipment for extracting milk. The government wants farmers to run this unit like a business and not just as a hobby. If properly managed, this scheme can double the income of farmers. See, this is not just a scheme, but a strong foundation to strengthen the rural economy.
