MG New PHEV SUV to Launch on July 16 – 100 km Electric Range, 7-Seater, and Packed with ADAS

This will be MG's first plug-in hybrid vehicle in India and a key part of the company's 'New Energy Vehicles' portfolio. While the model's name has not been officially announced yet, it is expected to be based on the Wuling Starlight 560.

This image shows the global version of the Wuling Starlight 560, which will serve as the foundation for MG's new SUV. SAIC-GM Wuling filed a design patent for it in India in March 2026. The patent image lacks Wuling branding, making it clear that the vehicle will be introduced in India under the MG brand. The SUV measures 4,745 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,755–1,770 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,810 mm.

In global markets, the electric version is available with either a 56.7 kWh or a 69.2 kWh battery, delivering power outputs between 136 and 201 bhp and a range of 500-540 km (CLTC cycle). The electric version features a closed-off front fascia. There is no confirmation yet on when the electric version will arrive in India.
