MG Hector Hawk EV: The Indian SUV market is no longer dominated solely by petrol and diesel vehicles. Companies are rapidly shifting towards electric and hybrid technologies, and in this vein, JSW MG Motor India is set to launch a new SUV. The company has released the first official teaser for this ‘New Energy Vehicle,’ with its world premiere scheduled for August 26, 2026.
Speculation suggests that this new SUV could be a version of the Wuling Starlight 560—sold in China—modified for the Indian market. Although the company has not yet confirmed the name, there is speculation that it might launch as the MG Hector Hawk EV. If this name proves accurate, it would mark the addition of a significant new model to MG’s SUV portfolio.
ADAPT Platform
The standout feature of this new SUV won’t just be its design or powertrain. It will be the first production model from MG built on the company’s new ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform).
This platform is designed to accommodate various powertrains. This means the same architecture can support technologies such as Electric, Strong Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, and Range-Extender Hybrid systems.
Design
The initial teaser reveals only the SUV’s silhouette, yet it offers a glimpse of its size. The front section features a closed grille and an illuminated MG logo. If the design closely mirrors the Starlight 560 sold in China, the SUV could sport a robust and sporty look.
It is expected to feature an angular body design, rectangular LED headlamps, and LED DRLs. Styling elements like thick black cladding on the bumper and a faux skid plate underneath could give it a more authentic SUV appearance.
The side profile may showcase dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels and black cladding around the wheel arches. At the rear, the vehicle is expected to feature LED tail lamps and a boxy tailgate design.

12.8-inch Screen and Premium Features
The cabin of the new SUV is also expected to be impressive. It may feature a large 12.8-inch central touchscreen infotainment system. Features such as wireless smartphone connectivity and a wireless phone charger are also expected.
For comfort, it could offer leatherette seats, a panoramic sunroof, and automatic climate control. Features like a 360-degree camera and cruise control could make daily driving much easier. The inclusion of a panoramic sunroof and premium cabin elements in this large SUV could help make it stand out in its segment.

Level 2 ADAS
Nowadays, safety features are just as important as design and mileage when buying a new SUV. MG’s new SUV is expected to come with Level 2 ADAS. This technology can provide various safety and driver assistance features while driving.
If this technology is included in the production model, the SUV will benefit from an excellent driver assistance system. However, the company will reveal details regarding all its functions and the specific features available in the Indian model only at the time of launch.
Electric and PHEV
The most interesting aspect of the new MG SUV could be its powertrain. It is expected to be offered in India with both electric and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) options. The electric version is expected to feature a 69.2 kWh battery pack. Its electric motor could deliver around 136 bhp, paired with a single-speed automatic transmission.
On the other hand, the plug-in hybrid version could combine a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery pack. This setup is expected to deliver a combined power output of approximately 197 bhp.
