Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG: Mahindra SUVs are renowned for their commanding road presence and robust performance, yet the company has lagged behind in the CNG segment until now. Consequently, Mahindra is preparing to launch a CNG version of its compact SUV, the XUV 3XO. If introduced, this would be Mahindra’s first factory-fitted CNG SUV. A notable highlight is the potential combination of a turbo-petrol engine with CNG technology. Let’s get into the details.

Launch Timeline

While there had been earlier speculation regarding a CNG option for the XUV 3XO, specific details had not surfaced. Interest in this model has recently picked up again, and it is believed that Mahindra may soon introduce the CNG version to the market. The launch is expected to take place this month, although an official date has not yet been confirmed.

Price

Regarding pricing, CNG variants could be approximately ₹50,000 to ₹80,000 pricier than their petrol counterparts. Currently, the XUV 3XO is priced between ₹9.15 lakh and ₹17.85 lakh. The exact price of the CNG version will exclusively be revealed at the time of launch.

Turbo-Petrol Engine

No new engine is expected for the Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG. Reports suggest the company may use the existing 1.2-litre, three-cylinder MPFI turbo-petrol engine with CNG technology. This combination could give the XUV 3XO a unique edge in its segment.

As for the transmission, the XUV 3XO CNG is expected to feature a 6-speed manual gearbox. An automatic gearbox option is unlikely for the CNG version at this stage. However, final performance figures have not yet been disclosed.

Features and Design

No major design changes are expected for the CNG version of the Mahindra XUV 3XO. Its exterior styling and interior layout are likely to remain identical to those of the petrol version. It is also expected that the CNG variants will be offered up to the mid-level trims of the lineup, allowing the company to position the CNG technology within a more affordable price range.
