Mahindra Vision S Spotted: Mahindra’s upcoming compact SUV has been spotted once again. New spy shots offer a clearer view of the Vision S-based SUV’s rear design. The most notable change is the inclusion of vertical tail lamps integrated into the rear pillars. This design mirrors that of the Scorpio family, sparking speculation regarding its potential name. The new test mule of the Mahindra Vision S features pillar-mounted vertical tail lamps, similar to those found on the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N. This SUV is expected to launch in the sub-4-metre segment around August 2027.

Vertical Tail Lamps

The standout feature of the new test mule is its rear lamps. These slim, vertical units are mounted on the pillars flanking the rear windscreen. They house stacked horizontal red lighting elements, significantly enhancing the rear profile’s appearance. This setup is reminiscent of the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N, both of which feature tall vertical tail lamps positioned alongside the rear glass.

16-Inch Tyres and Rear Profile

The new spy shots also reveal the SUV’s chunky tyres. Markings on the spare tyre indicate a size of 235/70 R16, which means the tyre is 235 mm wide and fitted to a 16-inch wheel. Such a tyre setup could offer better comfort on rough, uneven terrain.

In addition to the spare wheel, the rear profile reveals rectangular lighting units positioned lower down; their exact function remains unclear. A rear wiper and a bumper-mounted position for the number plate are also visible.

Rear Suspension

The new images show suspension linkages extending inwards from the wheel area. While the setup resembles an independent rear suspension, if the production model indeed features independent rear suspension, it would add a unique touch to the vehicle’s mechanical package.

Cabin

Regarding the cabin, earlier spy shots of the Vision S revealed a dashboard featuring dual horizontal displays. Vertical AC vents and an electronic parking brake were also visible. Given Mahindra’s recent SUV launches, the Vision S is expected to come equipped with a modern touchscreen setup, digital displays, and connected car features.

Petrol, diesel, hybrid, or EV?

The Vision S is expected to be built on Mahindra’s NU_IQ architecture and will target the sub-4-metre SUV segment. Regarding the powertrain, various options—including petrol, diesel, hybrid, and EV—are anticipated; however, Mahindra has not yet released official details about the engine and drivetrain.

Launch

The production version of the Mahindra Vision S-based SUV is expected to launch around August 2027. Since there is still considerable time before the launch, changes to its design, features, engine specifications, and name are likely.
