Mahindra Thar OG: Mahindra has launched the new Thar OG in India. The company has made significant changes to its chassis, suspension, steering, engines, and off-road equipment. The starting price for the new Thar OG has been set at ₹10.32 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new Mahindra Thar OG is available in three variants—AXT, LXT, and ZXT—and offers 1.5L diesel, 2.2L diesel, and 2.0L petrol engine options. It features a new chassis, improved suspension, 4WD hardware, and several new additions. Deliveries will commence on October 11, 2026, with introductory pricing applicable to deliveries made up to November 30, 2026.

Mahindra Thar OG Pricing

To understand the pricing of the Thar OG, one must look at the engine configurations. The petrol variant lineup starts with the LXT trim, while the 1.5-litre diesel engine is available from the AXT trim. Additionally, the 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engines offer both RWD and 4WD options.

The price of the Petrol LXT RWD automatic is ₹14.77 lakh. Within the same variant, the 4WD manual is priced at ₹15.60 lakh, and the 4WD automatic at ₹17.23 lakh. For the ZXT petrol, the RWD automatic is priced at ₹16.09 lakh, while the 4WD manual costs ₹16.60 lakh and the 4WD automatic costs ₹17.75 lakh.

The diesel range starts at ₹10.32 lakh. The 1.5-litre diesel AXT RWD manual is priced at ₹10.32 lakh. The LXT 1.5 diesel RWD manual is priced at ₹12.99 lakh, and the ZXT at ₹13.99 lakh. The 2.2-litre diesel LXT RWD automatic is priced at ₹16.49 lakh, while the ZXT is priced at ₹17.49 lakh. In the 4WD configuration, the LXT manual is priced at ₹16.43 lakh and the automatic at ₹18.00 lakh, while the ZXT manual costs ₹17.49 lakh and the automatic ₹18.99 lakh.

AXT Variant

The AXT serves as the entry-level variant of the new Thar OG. Despite its status, it comes equipped with features such as electric power steering and push-button start. Safety features include dual airbags, ESP with rollover mitigation, and a roll cage.

It features 18-inch steel wheels, halogen MFR headlamps, and LED tail lamps. The vehicle offers a height-adjustable seat for the driver and soft armrests for rear passengers. Rear AC vents, a rear demister, and an internally opening fuel lid are also part of the equipment list. The braking setup consists of front disc and rear drum brakes.

LXT Variant

The LXT variant offers significantly more upgrades compared to the AXT. The 4WD versions come with an electronic locking differential and terrain modes for mud, sand, and snow. Meanwhile, select RWD versions (with the 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engines) feature Terrain Assist.

The LXT is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, and a colour MID display. It also includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, cruise control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a rear wiper-washer.

Additionally, it offers features such as Adventure Statistics Gen II and a tyre direction monitoring system. The 4WD versions also feature a washable floor with drain plugs, which proves highly practical for off-roading.

ZXT Variant

The ZXT is the feature-rich variant. It comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, and LED front fog lamps. The fog lamps also include a cornering function.

Inside the cabin, there are premium touches such as a wireless charger, embossed leatherette seats, and a leatherette-wrapped steering wheel. It also includes a rear-view camera and front parking sensors.

For safety, the ZXT is equipped with a total of six airbags, including four HPTS airbags. In addition to these features, the ZXT also comes with front and rear disc brakes, ESP 9.3, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Frequency Dependent Damping, i.e., FDD, is also provided in ZXT.
