LPG eKYC Update 2026: Nowadays, most households use LPG gas for cooking. If you use an LPG cylinder at home, it is mandatory to complete the eKYC process—that is, Aadhaar-based identity verification. Completing the eKYC for your gas connection validates your identity, which in turn makes you eligible to receive subsidies. If you fail to complete the eKYC, you will no longer receive the government subsidy. The best part is that you can complete the eKYC process directly from your mobile phone, eliminating the need to visit your gas agency.

Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) has informed consumers via its social media platforms that they must complete the eKYC process for their domestic LPG refills to continue receiving subsidies. Consumers can complete the eKYC free of charge through the ‘HelloBPCL’ app or by contacting their gas distributor or the delivery person. Alternatively, for 5 kg or 10 kg ‘Bharatgas Lite Zip’ cylinders, users will have to pay the market price.

How to complete eKYC via the app
First, download the official app of your gas service provider.
Log in to the app and look for the ‘eKYC’ or ‘Aadhaar Authentication’ option.
Follow the provided instructions and install any additional app required for Aadhaar-based face authentication. You will be provided with on-screen instructions, which will include a facial scan.
Once the process is complete, check the subsequent message to confirm whether your verification has been successful.

Complete e-KYC by visiting your gas agency.
If you are unable to complete the process via your mobile phone, you may visit your gas cylinder distribution agency. There, you can complete your Aadhaar verification using a biometric device. This process can be completed entirely free of charge.

Complete e-KYC at the time of cylinder delivery.
You may also enquire with the person delivering your gas cylinder about completing the biometric verification through their registered application. If this facility is available, the process can be completed at the time of delivery.

What happens if you do not complete e-KYC?
Please note that failing to complete e-KYC does not mean you will be denied an LPG cylinder; however, you may stop receiving the subsidy. Furthermore, if a consumer chooses not to undergo this verification, they may still obtain 5 kg or 10 kg cylinders from their gas provider through digital channels at the market price. No government subsidy will be provided for such cylinders.
