LPG Rules Change: As July begins, significant alterations in LPG regulations have been implemented. These fresh guidelines now necessitate OTP and DAC confirmation for the delivery of gas cylinders. E-KYC prerequisites have been reinforced, adjustments have been made to subsidy eligibility, and certain novel regulations concerning PNG connections have been introduced. Let’s delve into these critical modifications in detail.

1. OTP verification is now obligatory for cylinder delivery

As per a reports, OTP confirmation has now been made compulsory for the delivery of LPG cylinders. After a customer places an order for a cylinder, an OTP will be dispatched to their registered mobile number. This OTP must be shared with the delivery personnel upon arrival. Failure to verify the OTP will result in the cylinder not being delivered to the customer, regardless of having a booking confirmation. This governmental action aims to combat the hoarding and illicit sale of gas cylinders.

2. E-KYC is imperative for Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries

It is now required for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to finalize the e-KYC procedure to continue receiving their LPG subsidy. Beneficiaries who do not complete this process by the deadline of June 30, 2026, will cease to receive the subsidy. This subsidy is directly credited to their linked bank account. Previously, the government granted a subsidy of Rs 300 on a maximum of nine LPG cylinders annually. Due to ongoing instability in the Middle East, this subsidy has been restricted from June 2026. Now, beneficiaries will only receive a subsidy on four cylinders per year.

3. DAC verification is now compulsory, and a digital cash note will be issued

Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) verification is now obligatory during the delivery of LPG cylinders. Customers must provide this DAC code to the delivery personnel. The delivery process will only be deemed complete after successful verification. Consumers are cautioned against sharing this code with others. Subsequent to the successful completion of the delivery process, a digital cash note will be dispatched to the customer’s registered mobile number. This digital note will encompass the cylinder cost, payment particulars, delivery date, and other essential information.

4. Fresh regulations for both PNG and LPG consumers

New regulations have also been enforced for households that possess an active PNG connection while simultaneously utilizing an LPG cylinder. Such consumers must maintain their PNG connection active and return their LPG cylinder within 30 days. In return for surrendering the cylinder, consumers will receive a transfer voucher. This voucher can be utilized to acquire another LPG connection in the future if they relocate to an area where PNG services are unavailable.

Non-payment of the PNG bill may lead to disconnection of the connection and penalties

Furthermore, more stringent payment regulations have been instituted for PNG users. If a consumer neglects to settle their PNG bill for two consecutive months, their connection may be disconnected. Reconnection will only occur after all outstanding dues are cleared. In cases where it is discovered that a consumer deliberately inflicted damage on a PNG pipeline or its valves, the consumer will be accountable for the entire repair cost.
