New LPG Cylinder Rules (October 2026): Several changes regarding the price, booking, and subsidy rules for LPG cylinders are set to take effect nationwide starting October 1, 2026. According to new regulations issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, completing biometric e-KYC is now mandatory to avail the ₹210 subsidy on cylinders. With the month of September ending in three days, October will begin, bringing several major changes across the country.
Among these is a new rule concerning LPG that every user needs to know. The government is implementing new regulations for domestic gas cylinders starting October 1; specifically, Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) has been made mandatory. Without completing this process, it will be difficult to receive the cylinder subsidy.
Mandatory Step for LPG Cylinders
The rules for booking LPG cylinders for consumers are changing from October 1. It has been stated that consumers must mandatorily complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) to book an LPG refill and avail the subsidy applicable to the regulated retail selling price.
If LPG users do not complete this process before the October 1 deadline, they will not be denied an LPG cylinder; however, due to this omission, they will have to purchase the cylinder at the market price and will not receive the government subsidy.
New LPG Cylinder Prices to be Announced
Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) determine gas cylinder prices on the first of every month based on international crude oil rates. Revised rates for domestic and commercial LPG cylinders will be released on October 1. Prior to thisthis announcement September 7, the government also amended the rules regarding the mandatory time gap between two cylinder bookings. Previously, this timeframe was 45 days for rural areas; it has now been reduced to a uniform 25 days across the country.
One-time requirement
Consumers who have already completed biometric Aadhaar authentication do not need to do it again. The government’s move aims to ensure that the benefits of subsidised cylinders reach eligible families. It will help identify duplicate and ineligible connconnections, while alsobing the commercial and industrial use of subsidised domestic cylinders.
Consumers can check the status of their connection and e-KYC by visiting the official websites of their gas distributors—such as Indane, HP, or Bharat Gas—or the central government’s official portal, MyLPG.in.
