LPG KYC: Big news for LPG consumers. Today is the final opportunity for customers of Indane, HP, and Bharat Gas. If you haven’t completed the electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) process yet, you may encounter difficulties in reserving cylinders from tomorrow, August 24th. The oil marketing companies had initially set August 23rd as the deadline, which was later extended by a week due to a sudden surge in crowds at gas agencies.

How to complete the e-KYC process:

– Download an application and finish the e-KYC process from your residence.
– Visit the nearest gas agency to complete the e-KYC process.

Will there be any changes from August 24th?

Indian Oil and other oil marketing companies had initially announced August 16th as the e-KYC deadline, which was later prolonged by seven days. Failure to complete the e-KYC process may lead to the subsidy being halted and booking requests not being processed.

Will the connection be terminated?

No, failure to complete the e-KYC process will not result in the disconnection of your service. However, it may hinder your ability to book cylinders. Once the e-KYC process is finalized, your connection will be reinstated.

Why is e-KYC necessary?

Oil marketing companies currently possess outdated customer data due to changes in contact information. The e-KYC process aims to update this data to accurately identify customers, especially those with multiple connections within a household, to combat illicit market activities.

Current booking requirements:

– An active registered mobile number is crucial for booking a domestic LPG cylinder.
– Bookings can only be made using the registered mobile number, with an OTP sent by the company for verification.
– Domestic LPG cylinder reservations are permitted every 45 days in rural areas and every 25 days in urban areas.

What is the price of a domestic cylinder?
Currently, a 14-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder costs ₹942 in Delhi. Meanwhile, an LPG cylinder is available in Kolkata for Rs 968 and in Mumbai for Rs 941.50. In Chennai, the price of a domestic cylinder (LPG Cylinder Price in Chennai) is Rs 957.50. In addition to these rates, millions of beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana receive a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) of ₹300 per year for four LPG cylinder refills.
