LPG KYC: This is crucial information for domestic LPG gas users. Those who haven’t yet finished their e-KYC for their gas connections are encouraged to do so by August 18th. Not completing the KYC by this deadline may lead to issues for consumers receiving LPG subsidies. Gas agencies have stated that the government is verifying gas consumers to ensure that only legitimate beneficiaries receive the subsidy.
In light of this, all consumers are urged to complete their e-KYC promptly. Those who have the time can visit their local Indian Oil Gas distributor or gas agency to complete their e-KYC using their Aadhaar card and registered mobile number.

For consumers who are away from their home district or city due to work, studies, or other commitments, there’s no need to worry. They can easily complete the e-KYC process from home using their mobile devices. To do this, they will need to download the Indian Oil One app on their smartphones. After logging in with the mobile number linked to the app, verification is done via OTP. Following this, face authentication is performed, and the e-KYC is successfully completed. The whole process takes just a few minutes.
Gas distributors have also mentioned that if any consumer faces technical issues with e-KYC, they can reach out to their nearest gas agency for help. The agency staff will assist in completing the KYC process with the necessary documents.
Consumers are reminded to finish their e-KYC before August 18th to ensure they continue receiving LPG gas subsidy benefits without interruptions and to avoid any future inconveniences, says Dheeraj Kumar, Indian Gas Plant Manager, Geedha Ara. Crude oil has once again crossed $80 per barrel. Meanwhile, LPG, CNG, and petrol and diesel rates have been updated. Around 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, Brent crude was trading at $80.13 per barrel, up about 68 cents.
LPG Rates to hike?
The Indian government is planning to impose a new tariff on cooking gas (LPG) and LNG consumers after the Iran war exposed serious supply chain vulnerabilities. The tariff will help fund an ambitious $42 billion Strategic Fuel Reserve Scheme, two sources told Reuters. This plan will expand India’s strategic reserves beyond crude oil to gas for the first time. These reserves are targeted to cover approximately two months of crude oil and liquefied natural gas demand. Meanwhile, the plan is to reserve approximately six weeks of cooking gas (LPG) consumption.
LPG cylinder may become costlier by Rs 18
A levy of Rs 1.29 per kilogram is proposed on LPG. This will increase the price of a domestic cylinder by approximately Rs 18. A levy of Rs 1.43 per standard cubic meter (SCM) is proposed on natural gas. At current consumption levels, this will generate approximately $1 billion in annual revenue.
