LPG: There is a big update for LPG consumers. If you’ve been anticipating a price drop on LPG cylinders, this update is for you. While the cost of commercial LPG cylinders was lowered on August 1st, the price of domestic cooking gas (14.2 kg) has stayed the same. As a result, the price of domestic LPG remains at Rs 942 per cylinder. However, we have information about a cylinder that is available for Rs 180 less than the usual price.

Which cylinder is it?

Actually, the price of a 5-kg LPG cylinder was reduced on August 1st. The cost of this cylinder has dropped from Rs 808.50 to Rs 762, making it Rs 180 cheaper than a standard domestic LPG cylinder. It’s important to note that a standard LPG (14.2 kg) cylinder is priced at Rs 942 in the national capital, Delhi.

The government has authorized the sale of 5 kg LPG cylinders (with or without a domestic pressure regulator (DPR)) through retail outlets of public sector oil marketing companies (OMCs). LPG sold under this initiative is referred to as Free Trade LPG (FTL). The initial purchase includes the cost of the equipment (DPR and cylinder), the product price at the current rate of a non-domestic 5 kg cylinder, and administrative fees. For subsequent refills, only the product price needs to be paid.

All gas companies, including Bharat Gas and Indian Oil, offer this type of cylinder. You can collect a cylinder from a retail outlet by presenting your proof of identity (POI).
