Chaitra Navratri 2025 Day 4: Today is the fourth day of Chaitra Navratri on Wednesday, 2nd April and on this day Maa Kushmanda is worshipped. It is believed that by worshipping her, respect, happiness, prosperity and good health are attained. Goddess Kushmanda has eight arms, in which she holds kamandal, bow, arrow, lotus, Amrit Kalash, chakra, mace and japa mala. Maa Kushmanda’s vehicle is lion and she is also considered the creator of the universe.

Take a bath in the morning and wear clean clothes. Purify the place of worship with Gangajal and install the idol or picture of Maa Kushmanda. Light a ghee lamp and apply kumkum and turmeric tilak to the goddess. Offer a red colored cloth to the mother and offer bhog and chant mantras. Finally, perform aarti and offer flowers.

According to the mythological story of Maa Kushmanda, when the universe was immersed in darkness and Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh were unable to create this universe, then Maa Durga appeared in the form of Kushmanda and created the universe. Let us tell you that ‘Kushmanda’ means ‘Kushm’ (wave) and ‘anda’ (egg). It means the goddess who appears in the form of the egg of the universe and creates the universe. That is why she is also called Adishakti.
