Laxmi Yojana: Good news for women. The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, aimed at supporting women in Delhi, is quickly attracting attention. Through this initiative, eligible women receive a monthly financial aid of Rs 2,500 directly deposited into their bank accounts. The online registration for this scheme commenced on August 1, 2026, and in a brief period, millions of women have shown interest.

By 8 p.m. on Friday, around 4.87 lakh registrations and 1.99 lakh applications had been submitted on the portal. Following this, the number of registrations surged overnight and into Saturday morning, reaching over 5 lakh by Saturday afternoon. Therefore, if you want to take advantage of this scheme, it’s essential to familiarize yourself with the eligibility criteria, necessary documents, and the complete application process before you apply.

Who qualifies for the benefits of the scheme?

Not every woman will qualify for the Rs 2,500 under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana. The government has set specific eligibility requirements. To qualify for the scheme, a woman must be aged between 21 and 60 years. Additionally, the family’s annual income should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh, so it’s important to verify the family income criteria before applying.

Moreover, women who are already receiving benefits from other financial assistance programs or pensions are not eligible for this scheme. Those who pay income tax and government employees are also excluded. Women from families with more than three living children do not qualify either. A family’s annual electricity usage must not exceed 2,400 units. Families that own a car, or have any member employed in a government position, will also be disqualified from the scheme. Women with a criminal history or record will not be eligible as well.

Prepare these documents before applying

When applying online, you will need certain documents, so it’s advisable to gather all necessary paperwork before you begin the application process.

An important point here is that your bank account must be linked to your Aadhaar, as the scheme amount will be transferred directly to your bank account. Therefore, it’s wise to correct any errors in your bank account and Aadhaar information before applying.

How to apply online for Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?

The application process is online. First, visit the official Delhi Lakshmi Yojana portal. Here, you’ll see the Citizen Login option. Then, click Register Now. Enter your Aadhaar number and date of birth in the requested information. After completing the registration, you’ll need to create your user ID and password.

After this, you will need to log back into the portal and fill out the application form. This may require your personal information, family information, and bank account details. After carefully filling out all the information, you will need to upload the required documents. A letter of recommendation from your MLA/MP will also be required. Finally, double-check all the information entered in the application form before submitting it. Any errors in the information may cause problems with application verification.

Only one woman benefits from a family

An important rule of this scheme is that only one woman from a family will receive benefits. If there are two or more eligible women in a family, the older woman will be given priority based on age. For example, if one woman in the same family is 40 years old and the other is 35 years old, the 40-year-old woman will receive benefits.

The government is preparing to transfer the first installment to the bank accounts of eligible women. According to reports, the first installment is scheduled to be transferred to eligible women’s accounts on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. However, simply registering to receive benefits is not sufficient; it is essential to verify eligibility and complete the application process.
