Laxmi Yojana: The Delhi government’s Delhi Laxmi Yojana will provide eligible women with a monthly financial aid of Rs 2,500 starting from September 1, 2026. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that pension letters will be handed out to eligible women from August 26 at a program to be held at Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium. District-level committees have been directed to speed up the review and verification of applications. It’s important to mention that women won’t be able to freely use the entire Rs 2,500 received monthly under this scheme. The government has decided to split the amount into two parts.

1500 will be deposited in RD or FD
Under the default arrangement, Rs 1,500 of the total Rs 2,500 monthly aid will be placed in a recurring deposit (RD) or fixed deposit (FD). This portion cannot be withdrawn immediately and will be locked in until July 31, 2029, making it unavailable for immediate expenses. However, beneficiaries have the option to deposit the full Rs 2,500 in an RD or FD if they prefer.
1000 will come in CBDC wallet
The remaining Rs 1,000 will be transferred to a CBDC wallet linked to the beneficiary’s bank account. This amount can be used for daily necessities, with some restrictions imposed by the government. The CBDC wallet cannot be used for purchasing items like alcohol, tobacco, drugs, lottery tickets, gambling, or betting, ensuring the aid is spent on essential expenses.
Who qualifies for the benefits?
Women aged between 21 and 60 who are registered voters in Delhi, with a family income not exceeding Rs 2.5 lakh annually, are eligible for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana. Only the eldest eligible woman in a household will receive the benefits. The applicant, her spouse, or one of her parents must have been residing in Delhi for at least a decade by the application date.
Who is ineligible for the benefits?
Those already receiving government pensions or financial aid, taxpayers, GST filers, government employees, and public officials are not eligible for the scheme. Families with more than three living children, consuming over 2,400 units of electricity yearly, or owning four-wheeled vehicles are also excluded.
Application process and eligibility
Applications for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana will be open year-round, with the last day of each month being the cut-off for that month’s applications. Upon verification and approval, eligible women can start receiving benefits from the subsequent month. If a beneficiary is found to be ineligible later, payments will be halted immediately, and previously disbursed funds may be recovered. In the event of the beneficiary’s death, payments to the CBDC wallet will cease, while the amount and interest from the RD will be transferred to the legal heir.
