Ishan Kishan: Amidst the ICC T20 World Cup campaign, the BCCI has dealt a major blow to Indian cricket team’s explosive player Ishan Kishan. The BCCI Central Contract for 2025-2026 has been announced. This time, Ishan Kishan has not been included in the BCCI contract.
This is being considered a major setback for him by the BCCI amid the T20 World Cup. This time, 30 players, or four fewer than last year, received a place in the contract. Last year, 30 players were included in the BCCI Central Contract.
In addition, the BCCI has removed its A+ grade. The T20 World Cup 2026 is underway, and Ishan Kishan is expected to play there. In the last match against the USA, Ishan Kishan batted aggressively, but despite a good start, he managed to score only 20 runs. Amazingly, even after playing in the ICC World Cup, he was not included in the Central Contract.

Learn why Ishan Kishan didn’t get a spot
When the BCCI released the central contract list last year, his name was included in the list of 34 players. Fans hoped for a chance, but that didn’t happen. The BCCI didn’t include him in the list released on Tuesday. Fans are now raising questions.
To be included in a central contract, players must play matches, and Kishan didn’t play a single match in 2025. He returns to Team India in early 2026. This is why Kishan wasn’t offered a contract. Experts cite his failure to play a single match in 2025 as the primary reason.

Rohit Sharma and Kohli dealt a blow
Veteran players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have suffered a major setback in the BCCI’s central contract. After retiring from Test and T20 formats, they have been demoted from the top grade to Grade B. This will significantly reduce their BCCI pay. Previously, both were in the A+ grade and earned ₹7 crore annually. But now they have been included in Grade B.
These three players are included in Grade A
Only three Indian players were included in Grade A in the BCCI’s new contract list. These include Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
What is the old salary structure?
For information, in the 2024-25 season, Grade A players were paid ₹5 crore, Grade B players ₹3 crore, and Grade C players ₹1 crore per year. Previously, A+ players received ₹7 crore. The BCCI has not yet clarified whether there will be any changes to the payment structure for 2025-26. However, a slight change in the salary structure is likely.
