8th Pay Commission: Big news for central government employees and pensioners. Central employees are looking forward to the recommendations from the 8th Pay Commission. This Commission has a timeframe of 18 months to present its recommendations to the government. With this in mind, the Pay Commission has initiated a series of meetings. In this regard, they have published the schedule for upcoming meetings in Hyderabad, Srinagar, and Ladakh.

It’s important to mention that the Pay Commission has already conducted meetings in Dehradun and Delhi. The aim of these meetings is to engage with stakeholders, government organizations, institutions, and employee unions/associations regarding matters related to the Pay Commission. These discussions are set to take place in May and June 2026. Interested parties must first submit a memorandum on the official 8th Pay Commission website and then arrange an appointment with the Commission.

When and where will the meetings occur? According to the schedule, the Pay Commission will be in Hyderabad, Telangana on May 18 and 19, 2026 (Monday and Tuesday). The 8th Pay Commission has indicated that stakeholders interested in participating must submit their memorandum on the official website and book an appointment by May 8, 2026, along with a unique memo ID. Additionally, the Pay Commission will be in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir (UT) from June 1 to June 4, 2026 (Monday to Thursday). Organizations, institutions, and unions/associations wishing to engage with the Commission in Srinagar need to submit their memorandum and appointment request by May 16, 2026.

On Monday, June 8, 2026, the Pay Commission will visit the Union Territory of Ladakh. Relevant stakeholders from Central Government organizations/institutions and unions/associations in Ladakh can submit memorandums and request appointments before May 16, 2026. The Pay Commission will also conduct separate meetings in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, and in various cities across other States/Union Territories (UTs) at a later date. Separate meetings will also be held in cities across other States/UTs.

This deadline has been extended

Meanwhile, the Pay Commission has extended the deadline for submitting memorandums from April 30, 2026, to Sunday, May 31, 2026. The Eighth Pay Commission for central government employees was formed last year. The Pay Commission launched its website in February this year. All updates from the Pay Commission can be obtained through the website. The Pay Commission’s recommendations are expected to be implemented from January 1, 2026.
