Another bumper recruitment in Bihar, Staff Selection Commission has released vacancies, apply from today Following the recent recruitment for Bihar Police Constables and Home Guards, the state has announced another opportunity. The Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) has opened applications for 682 positions for Junior Statistical Officers and Block Statistical Officers. The application process begins today, April 1, 2025, and interested candidates can submit their applications until April 21, 2025, via bssc.bihar.gov.in. As per the announcement, the application fee must be paid online (using credit card, debit card, UPI, net banking, etc.) by April 19, 2025.
The examination fee can be processed through two banks: SBI and ICICI Bank. When paying the examination fee, candidates will see the names of both banks, the payment methods available, and the fee amount. Among the available positions, 313 are unreserved, while 98 are allocated for SC, 7 for ST, 112 for MBC, 62 for backward classes, 22 for backward class women, and 68 for the EWS category. Additionally, there are 231 positions reserved for women under horizontal reservation.
Selection Criteria:
The selection process will consist of a written exam worth 75 marks and 25 marks for experience. Preference will be given to candidates with contract work experience in the same position, with 5 marks awarded for each year of service, up to a maximum of 35 marks. For partial years, marks will be calculated proportionally based on the number of working days, multiplied by 5 and divided by 365.

– 21 to 37 years for general candidates
– 40 years for women in the general category
– 40 years for BC/OBC (both male and female)
– 42 years for SC/ST (both male and female)
Minimum Qualifying Marks:
– Unreserved Category: 40%
– Backward Classes: 36.5%
– Scheduled Caste/Tribe: 34%
– Women: 32%
– Disabled (all categories): 32%
– Overall Minimum Qualifying Marks: 32%
Examination Fees:
– General category / backward class / extremely backward class male candidates: Rs 540
– SC/ST (permanent residents of Bihar): Rs 135
For all Divyang categories (similar to SC/ST) – Rs. 135
Women from all categories (only applicable to permanent residents of Bihar) – Rs. 135
Candidates from outside Bihar (both Male and Female) – Rs. 540
Exam Pattern
According to the Bihar Staff Selection Commission Examination Conducting Rules-2010, over 40,000 applications are expected.
The preliminary examination will take place once applications are received. If the number of applications is high, the preliminary exam may be conducted in multiple stages. Should the preliminary and main examinations occur in different phases, results will be standardized through an equalization process. The preliminary exam will be objective in format. Candidates equal to five times the number of available vacancies in each category will be selected for the main examination. A separate advertisement will be issued for the main examination.
Preliminary Examination: This will include one paper on General Knowledge, covering the following areas:
(a) General Studies.
(b) General Science and Mathematics.
(c) Mental Ability Test.
