iPhone Duo: Apple has launched its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo. According to the company, it features the largest iPhone display to date, bridging the gap between a smartphone and a tablet. It comes equipped with a foldable display, the A20 Pro chip, a 48MP camera, a dual-battery system, iOS 27, and AI features. The phone remains compact when folded but opens up to reveal a large 7.6-inch display. Let’s dive into the full details and key features.
iPhone Duo Display and Foldable Design
The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch internal Super Retina XDR display. When closed, it offers a 5.4-inch outer display, about 90% the size of the iPhone 18 Pro screen. Both displays support ProMotion, Always-On technology, and peak outdoor brightness of up to 3000 nits. A nano-texture finish also helps reduce glare and reflections.
iPhone Duo A20 Pro Chip and Performance
For performance, the iPhone Duo runs on the A20 Pro chip. Apple says the new chip and vapour chamber-based thermal system improve sustained performance by 35% compared to the iPhone 17 Pro. It includes a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU, and a dual 16-core Neural Engine, enabling enhanced performance for gaming, multitasking, and AI workloads.
iPhone Duo Camera
For photography, the iPhone Duo features a 48MP Fusion Main camera that offers optical-quality 2x Telephoto capability. It is accompanied by a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera. Apple has also included features such as zero shutter lag, improved low-light photography, and new Photographic Styles. The foldable design enables new ways to use the camera, such as taking selfies while viewing the preview on the outer display.
iPhone Duo Battery
The iPhone Duo utilises a dual-battery architecture. According to Apple, it delivers up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display and up to 44 hours on the outer display. With balanced use of both displays, the device offers up to 24 hours of usage. Fast charging gets it to 50% in about 20 minutes, while wireless charging takes about 30 minutes.
iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence
The iPhone Duo is designed specifically for iOS 27. It features Split View multitasking, improved app navigation, and an interface that adapts to the foldable display. Additionally, Apple Intelligence and Siri AI integrate personal context, enabling the AI to assist users based on content in apps, messages, photos, and on-screen content.
iPhone Duo Price and Pre-Order
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 and will be available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2 TB. In India, the starting price is ₹2,99,900. The phone comes in two colours: Star White and Night Sky. Pre-orders begin on October 16, 2026, and sales start on October 23, 2026.
