Meanwhile, on the other hand, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo gave some information about Apple’s 2027 plans on the social media platform X.According to Kuo, both the regular iPhone 18 and the rumoured budget model (iPhone 18e, which is expected to arrive around March or April 2027) will include 9GB of DRAM. That’s slightly more than the 8GB in the existing iPhone 17 base models. The new setup will reportedly use six 1.5GB chips along with Apple’s upcoming A20 chipset.
This is slightly less than earlier rumours, which suggested an increase of up to 12GB. Due to memory shortages and cost pressures, Apple reduced it and prioritised stability instead.
Speaking of the chip, the A20 is moving to TSMC’s Advanced 2nm process. There are rumours that it will bring about 15% better CPU performance and up to 30% better power efficiency than the A19 series.
