Indian Railways New Rule: Indian Railways is implementing stricter rules regarding ticket inspections ahead of the festive season. Central Railway will conduct a special ticket-checking drive from October 1 to October 31. During this period, officials will verify ticket validity as well as passengers’ identity proofs and documents establishing their eligibility. According to Dr Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, passengers travelling under concessions or specific reservation quotas must carry the prescribed identity proof to substantiate their eligibility.
The Public Relations Officer stated that when a ticket is booked for multiple passengers, it is mandatory for at least one of the passengers listed on the ticket to carry original identity proof. He added that in the absence of the required documents, all passengers travelling on that ticket could be deemed to be travelling without a valid ticket, in accordance with the applicable rules.
Verification for Concession and Quota Categories
During this special checking drive, tickets booked under concessions and specific reservation quotas will be scrutinised. Passengers must carry the original documents that prove their eligibility. According to the Railways, passengers travelling on e-passes or PTOs (Privilege Ticket Orders) must also carry the original documents.

This special checking drive by the Railways will also verify the authenticity of unreserved tickets. Ticket-checking staff can verify tickets using the TTE app if necessary.
Special Campaign Underway
According to Central Railway, the primary objective of this campaign is to curb irregularities related to ticketing and reservations. Key aims include preventing revenue leakage, stopping the misuse of reservation facilities, curbing the fraudulent use of concessions and passes, and verifying the authenticity and validity of tickets.
Which IDs are valid?
According to the Railways, specific photo identity documents have been designated for identification during travel. These include documents such as the Aadhaar card, voter ID card, passport, driving licence, photo identity card, school or college ID card, bank passbook with photo, credit card, etc.
