Air Raid Sirens and Fire Alarms: After the painful terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the mood of the Indian government seems to be to take strict action against Pakistan. If sources are to be believed, the Indian Army can now fight a decisive battle against the terrorists and those who shelter them. After the attack, big meetings were held continuously under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, making it seem that something big was about to happen.

Meanwhile, the Union Home Ministry has taken a big step and ordered all the states to conduct mock drills on May 7. A large-scale civil defense mock drill will be held on May 7 in 244 selected districts nationwide. This will be the first such exercise after the war with Pakistan 1971!

Why is this mock drill being held? What does it mean?

The purpose of this mock drill is to prepare people to deal with any danger. Special workshops will be held in schools, offices and community centres. In these, people will be taught that if there is an attack, how to save their lives by lying down on the ground, where the safe places are nearby, how to give first aid and how to keep their mind calm in difficult situations.

Also, electricity will be switched off suddenly, so that if there is an air attack at night, the city remains hidden from the enemy’s eyes. Let us tell you that this mock drill has already started in many states of the country.

In a Jammu school, children are taught how to save themselves in any trouble. At the same time, SDRF personnel in Srinagar are busy preparing for the mock drill on Dal Lake tomorrow (7 May). After the order of the Home Ministry, the mock drill was also practised in the Lucknow Police Line. The fire department team in Manipur is testing its preparations.

Why will the siren sound?

This mock drill will also include the danger siren (red warning siren). You must have seen that in the war between Russia and Ukraine for the last few years, people are warned with sirens to avoid missile attacks. The same kind of exercise will be done here too, so that people know what to do when the alarm bell rings.
