Weather Update – IMD Issues Heat Warning for UP, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan & 5 More States Till May 24

Weather Update: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding severe heat during this week. Temperatures could reach 47°C in UP, and 46°C in Haryana and Rajasthan. The IMD has issued a severe heat warning for eight states, valid until May 24.

Weather Update: Severe heat conditions are currently prevailing across several parts of the country. Stepping out of the house during the afternoon hours has become difficult for people. On Monday, temperatures ranging between 40°C and 47°C were recorded in several cities, including Delhi. The Meteorological Department states that heatwave conditions are likely to persist in several states until May 24. Temperatures exceeding 46°C have been recorded in various regions of Haryana and Rajasthan.

A heatwave warning remains in effect for Western Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha today, May 19. Additionally, intense heat is expected in Western Rajasthan from May 19 to May 21. The highest maximum temperature—47.6°C—was recorded in Banda (Uttar Pradesh). According to the Meteorological Department, severe heatwave conditions are expected to persist across the plains of Northwest and Central India throughout this week. So, let’s find out which states are likely to experience scorching heat during the coming week.

Heat Warnings for These States
– According to the Meteorological Department, maximum temperatures in several parts of Northwest India could rise by 2–3°C between May 19 and May 24.

– In the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat, maximum temperatures may see a decline of 2–3°C between May 19 and May 24.

– Some parts of Chhattisgarh are likely to witness an increase of 3–4°C in maximum temperatures by May 21.

– No significant change in maximum temperatures is expected in the rest of the country until May 24, 2026.

Weather in Uttar Pradesh
Heatwave conditions are currently prevailing across several districts of Uttar Pradesh. A heatwave alert has been issued for most districts, including Banda, Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, and Prayagraj. Temperatures in Noida and Ghaziabad have reached up to 42°C.

Weather in Delhi
Regarding the weather in Delhi, the skies are expected to remain clear, though heatwave-like conditions are likely to persist. A heatwave alert remains in effect from May 20 to May 22. There will be some relief in the weather on May 23 and 24. A ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued for Delhi. Temperatures are forecast to reach up to 45 degrees over the next two days. There are no indications of thunderstorms or pre-monsoon showers in Delhi for the next 10 days.

Rain and Storm Warning for Himachal Pradesh
Temperatures of 35°C in Dharamshala, 28.2°C in Shimla, and 28.4°C in Manali were recorded. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding rainfall in the state from May 19 to May 24. On May 21 and 22, there is a possibility of rain, lightning, and storms in certain areas of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi. There is a risk of falling objects, strong winds, and stormy conditions.

Heat Wave and Humid Weather Warning:

– According to the Meteorological Department, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh from May 19 to May 24. Additionally, heatwave conditions are expected in Bihar on May 19, and in Telangana from May 19 to May 21.

– In certain parts of Western Uttar Pradesh, conditions ranging from a heatwave to a severe heatwave are likely to occur between May 19 and May 24.
