According to intelligence sources, the operation primarily focused on the Barmal area of ​​Paktika province, considered a stronghold of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar militants. The drone strikes targeted a vehicle near a guesthouse (‘Hujra’). Locals in Barmal reported hearing loud explosions shortly after midnight. This is the same area where former TTP leader Umar Khalid Khurasani was killed in 2022.

AFP quoted Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid as saying that ten civilians, including nine children and a woman, were killed in the attacks in Khost province. Mujahid also said that four other civilians were injured in the attacks in Kunar and Paktika.
