Operation Sindoor: Taking revenge for the Pahalgam attack, the Indian Army on Wednesday (May 7, 2025) destroyed terrorist bases in Pakistan by carrying out air strikes. These terrorist bases were present in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This air strike of the army has been named ‘Operation Sindoor’. According to the information revealed by the army, a total of 9 terrorist bases have been targeted in the air strike.
After Operation Sindoor, the army will start a press briefing shortly. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will participate in it. Vyomika Singh from the Air Force will provide the information.
On the other hand, India’s Air Defence has shot down the Chinese JF-17 fighter jet in Kashmir. Let us tell you that the Chinese JF-17 Thunder is a lightweight, single-engine, multi-role fighter jet jointly developed by China and Pakistan. Its prototype flew in 2003. It is the primary fighter aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force.
What is the speciality ofthe JF-17 fighter aircraft
The length of JF-17 is about 14.9 meters, wingspan is 9.45 meters, and height is about 4.77 meters. Its maximum takeoff weight is up to 12,474 kg. This aircraft has Russian Klimov RD-93 or Chinese Guizhou WS-13 turbofan engines.
This aircraft can carry up to 1,500 kg of weapons on seven hardpoints, which include air-to-air missiles, air-to-ground bombs, and anti-ship missiles. Its weapons include Chinese PL-5, PL-12, and PL-15 missiles and GPS-guided bombs, which enable it to attack both air and surface targets. Its range is about 2,000 kilometres, making it suitable for long-range combat.
