No Entry for Heavy Vehicles in Delhi Before Republic Day, Routes Diverted

Republic Day 2026 – Preparations for Republic Day are in full swing in Delhi. Soldiers have already begun rehearsing the parade, leading to some traffic diversions. The traffic police have advised commuters to use alternative routes. If you plan to travel towards Rashtrapati Bhavan and India Gate, please check the traffic police guidelines beforehand to avoid any inconvenience.
According to the traffic police, from 10 PM on January 22, 2026, until the end of the event on January 23, 2026, and again from 10 PM on January 25, 2026, until January 26, 2026, goods vehicles coming from Gautam Buddh Nagar and other areas will not be allowed to enter Delhi for security reasons. Therefore, drivers should familiarise themselves with the new routes to avoid getting lost.
Alternative Routes
The traffic police have released a list of alternative routes. Vehicles entering Delhi from Chilla Red Light and heading to other destinations can take a U-turn at Chilla Red Light and proceed via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway to reach their destination. Similarly, vehicles entering Delhi from the DND (border) can turn around at the DND toll plaza and travel via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
Vehicles entering Delhi from Kalindi Kunj Yamuna (border) and heading to other destinations will be diverted at the underpass intersection before the Yamuna River and then proceed via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. Vehicles travelling from the Yamuna Expressway to Delhi via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway can take the service road from the Falaida cut and Rabupura, passing through Galgotia, Gautam Buddha University, Pusta Tiraaha, Honda CL Chowk, and Kasna town to reach the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and continue to their destination.
Alternatively, travelling by vehicle from the Yamuna Expressway to Delhi via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway can turn towards Pari Chowk from Zero Point and then proceed to their destination via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.
