Health Schemes 2026: The Bihar government is actively managing a variety of health care initiatives. These initiatives encompass cashless treatment, multiple health programs, and various schemes aimed at enhancing care for pregnant women and their infants. Additionally, they include schemes from the central government. The government is committed to providing improved health services to over 130 million residents of our state. Let’s explore how many government schemes are currently in operation in Bihar.
Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Scheme
The Chief Minister Medical Assistance Fund Scheme of the Bihar government was established to assist in the treatment of serious health conditions. It offers financial support ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 5 lakh to families facing economic hardships. This scheme covers 14 incurable diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and kidney transplants. The financial aid is sent directly to the hospital, relieving the patient of the financial burden. Residents of Bihar with an annual income below Rs 2.50 lakh are eligible for this scheme.
Mother and Child Protection Scheme
The Janani Bal Suraksha Yojana (JBSY) is currently being implemented in Bihar. The primary goal of this scheme is to lower maternal and infant mortality rates. It promotes hospital deliveries among women and provides financial support for this purpose. In rural regions, pregnant women receive Rs 14,000, while ASHA workers are compensated Rs 600. In urban settings, pregnant women are given Rs 10,000, and ASHA workers receive Rs 400 for facilitating hospital deliveries.
Chief Minister’s Public Health Scheme
This scheme is akin to the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) but is executed at the state level. Families in need who are unable to access the Ayushman Bharat scheme can benefit from cashless treatment up to Rs 500,000 each year through this initiative. It encompasses several critical health issues, including heart surgery, cancer, neurosurgery, and kidney transplants.
Eligible individuals can obtain an Ayushman card through the Ayushman app or by visiting the nearest Common Service Center. A resident of Bihar is required. Beneficiaries must also submit their ration card, Aadhaar card, and income certificate.

The government aims to reduce school dropouts by providing accurate information about menstruation. To encourage the use of sanitary pads, the state government annually transfers Rs 300 to the accounts of all beneficiary female students.
