Monsoon Update – Heavy Rain Warning in 5 States, Cold Wave Alert in 9 States; 38 UP Districts Under Heavy Fog Warning

Monsoon Update: Weather across the country is changing rapidly. Several states are experiencing intense cold. According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall is expected in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and two other states, including Tamil Nadu, due to the partial influence of the northeast monsoon on December 17-18. The IMD predicts dense fog will likely prevail across Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh. The Meteorological Department forecasts rain in parts of Tamil Nadu, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep for Wednesday and Thursday. Meanwhile, cold intensity will increase in the northeastern states, and fog will become denser.

Weather in Uttar Pradesh
In Uttar Pradesh, light to strong winds during the day are increasing the cold. However, no special alert has been issued regarding rain. According to the IMD, dense fog is likely in about 38 districts on Wednesday, including Moradabad, Meerut, Bareilly, Rampur, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Kanpur, Agra, Aligarh, Etawah, Jhansi, Jalaun, Banda, Hamirpur, and the districts of Purvanchal (eastern Uttar Pradesh).

Weather in Bihar:
Fog and cold winds have increased the difficulties in most parts of Bihar. On Tuesday, about 10 to 20 flights were delayed. Long-distance trains are also running late due to the increased fog, causing significant inconvenience to passengers. The IMD predicts that the minimum temperature will drop further, resulting in even more severe cold.

Weather in Haryana and Punjab today:
According to the Meteorological Department’s forecast, fog will be quite dense from December 10 to February 10 this winter. The IMD predicts that the minimum temperature will drop in both states on December 17, resulting in severe cold. Dense fog will prevail in most areas during this period. According to the IMD, light cloud cover is expected this week, and temperatures will drop sharply, resulting in intense cold.

Cold wave warning in these states:
The Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave warning for Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Telangana from December 17 to 20. Dense fog is also likely in these states in the morning.
