Cyclone Shakti: The Indian Meteorological Department made a big announcement about the monsoon in the country yesterday. The Meteorological Department has said that the southwest monsoon has officially started. It has arrived in some parts of the South Andaman Sea, Nicobar Islands, South Bay of Bengal and North Andaman Sea. The cyclone ‘Shakti’ outbreak is seen increasing rapidly in the coastal areas of Bangladesh. According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon has already begun. Along with this, there is a threat of a cyclone.

The threat of Shakti cyclone is increasing

Weather experts say that air cyclone is forming over the Andaman Sea. A low-pressure area can develop between 16 and 22 May. If this cyclone forms, then the risk of its arrival in the coastal regions of Odisha and West Bengal (India) may increase between 24 and 26 May.

Possibility of pre-monsoon in Karnataka and Kolkata

The IMD has issued a yellow alert in many districts of Karnataka. Pre-monsoon rains are expected till May 16. Kolkata is likely to remain partly cloudy today i.e. Wednesday. However, there is a possibility of rain and thunder in the evening.

Rain warning in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, the southwest monsoon is seen increasing rapidly in many areas of southern Bengal, south of the Andaman Sea, the Nicobar Islands and North Andaman today. There is a possibility of lightning and thunderstorms in South Peninsular India and adjoining Central India for the next 4 days. Heavy rains may occur at isolated places in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu during the next 3 days. Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal will likely experience severe heat from May 14 to May 15, 2025.
