New Delhi: A tragic incident has emerged from Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Ten people have lost their lives after a steamer capsized in the Yamuna River in Vrindavan, an event that has subsequently thrown the area into chaos. As of now, half a dozen people are still reported missing.

The death toll is feared to rise. There were 25 people on board the steamer, some of whom had already been successfully rescued and brought to safety. The police administration, along with teams of divers, is currently conducting rescue operations at the scene to search for the missing individuals.

District Magistrate Provides Key Details

Following the tragic incident in Vrindavan, administrative officials rushed to the site. District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh stated that a highly unfortunate incident occurred in the Yamuna River at 2:45 PM. Approximately 30 people had arrived from Ludhiana and were touring the Yamuna River in boats. This unfortunate mishap took place near KC Ghat, resulting in the sinking of one of the boats.

“By the grace of Bihari Ji, everyone will be saved. We have contacted the local Army station for assistance; we sought their help, and their personnel are currently en route,” the DM said. He further added, “Our primary objective is to save lives, and hospitals have already been placed on alert. The Ramakrishna Mission Hospital is our largest medical facility, and we have placed it on high alert.”
