If Your Kids Are Crazy About Momos, This Viral Momo Paratha Is a Game Changer, Must Try

Viral Momo Paratha: Does a “World War” break out at your dinner table too? The moment you say, “Son, we’re having bottle gourd curry,” your children’s faces fall. All they want is outside junk food, and you’re worried about their health. There’s a smart and super tasty solution—Momo Paratha!

This recipe is going viral on the internet these days. Imagine, the same spicy taste of momos combined with the comforting goodness of homemade wheat parathas. This dish by chefs Neha and Anshu Kumari on Instagram is now on every mom’s favorite list.

What do you need to make Momo Paratha? (Ingredients)

The ingredients are the same as what you’ll easily find in your kitchen:

For the base: Wheat flour.

Vegetables: Half a cabbage, 1 bell pepper, 1 carrot, and 1 cup finely chopped onion.

For the tempering: Ginger, garlic, green chilies (finely chopped).

Spices and sauces: Salt, black pepper powder, and 1 teaspoon soy sauce.

Garnishing: Fresh coriander, white sesame seeds, green onions, and oil for cooking.

How to make it: Step-by-step guide

Preparing the vegetables: First, wash and roughly chop the cabbage, bell pepper, and carrot. Now, finely chop them using a food chopper. (Remember, we don’t want to make a paste, just keep the crunch!)

Prepare the spicy filling: Heat some oil in a pan. Add ginger, garlic, and green chilies and sauté lightly. Now add the onions and cook for 2 minutes. Once the onions are soft, add the chopped vegetables and cook on high heat for 5 minutes so that the water from the vegetables dries up.

The saucy twist: Now add salt, black pepper, and soy sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes and finally add plenty of fresh coriander and turn off the gas. Your ‘momo stuffing’ is ready! 4. Pro-tip for rolling the paratha: Take a ball of regular wheat flour dough and roll it into a circle. Place the filling in the center and fold it into a triangle shape. Sprinkle some white sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top of the paratha (this will make the paratha look just like the ones from a restaurant).

Cook until golden and crispy: Place the paratha on a hot griddle and cook it on both sides until golden brown, using oil or ghee.

Is it really healthy?

Maida vs. Wheat: Restaurant momos are made with refined flour (maida), which is difficult to digest. This paratha is made with whole wheat flour, which is rich in fiber.

A treasure trove of vegetables: It uses cabbage, carrots, and bell peppers, providing children with vitamins and antioxidants.

Controlled oil: At home, you can control the amount of oil or ghee used according to your preference.

Serving tip: Serve it with spicy red momo chutney and mayonnaise. Trust me, the kids will lick their plates clean!
