Farmers to protest against US-India trade deal on February 17

New Delhi: A trade deal was recently struck between India and the United States, which was widely praised at the government level. The US President even called PM Modi a close friend and reduced tariffs on imports from India to 18 per cent. However, anger is brewing among farmers in India against the trade deal with the US.

The farming community does not seem to be in favour of the deal between PM Modi and the US. In protest against the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), effigies of US President Donald Trump and PM Narendra Modi will be burned at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Sirsa on February 17th at 1 PM. Furthermore, an effigy of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will also be burned in protest against the government’s decision to cut old-age pensions in Haryana.
