Delhi Schools Closed: Air quality in Delhi-NCR has deteriorated significantly again. The alarming levels of pollution have caused considerable concern among parents regarding their children’s health. Due to rising air pollution in Delhi, GRAP Stage-4 has been implemented, and the administration has issued necessary guidelines for schools. As air quality continues to worsen in Delhi-NCR, schools in Noida and Ghaziabad have made online classes mandatory for younger children. At the same time, older students will follow a hybrid learning model.
Schools, colleges, and other educational institutions in Delhi and the NCR have not yet been fully closed. Considering the pollution levels, schools have been instructed to conduct classes in a hybrid mode. According to the Directorate of Education, both online and offline options will be available for students in classes 1 to 9 and class 11.
Online Classes in Noida:
In Noida, the education department, acting on instructions from the District Magistrate and the Commission for Air Quality Management, has issued an order requiring all schools and coaching centres from pre-nursery to class V to start online classes from Monday. A hybrid model will be implemented for classes VI to IX and XI, under which students can attend classes in person or online, depending on available facilities. This directive will apply to all schools, including CBSE, ICSE, state education boards, and coaching centres. An official stated, “School heads have been instructed to adhere to the new rules strictly.”
In Gautam Buddh Nagar and Ghaziabad, students from classes 1 to 5 will have online courses. A hybrid system will be in place for classes 6 to 9 and 11. However, schools will remain open for students in classes 10 and 12. This rule will also apply to Noida, Greater Noida, and other cities in the district.
The order issued by the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar clearly states that this decision has been taken in compliance with GRAP Direction No. 83 (dated 17.09.2024). All schools in the district, whether affiliated with the basic education board or the secondary education board, as well as all coaching centres, will remain closed until further notice. The district administration has instructed school and coaching centre operators to strictly adhere to the order and continue students’ studies online.
