Assam Train Accident: A major accident was reported early Saturday morning in the Hojai district of Assam. According to forest officials, eight elephants were killed after being hit by the Sairang-New Delhi Rajdhani Express within the Hojai district limits. Five coaches of the train derailed in the accident in Assam’s Hojai district. Fortunately, no passengers were injured in the incident. However, eight elephants died as a result of the collision with the train.
The good news is that no passengers were injured in this accident. However, the incident has disrupted train services in Upper Assam and the Northeast. The railway authorities have launched rescue operations.
Where did the accident happen?
The train accident occurred on the Jamunamukh-Kampur section of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Lumding division. The Rajdhani Express collided with a herd of wild elephants in Assam on Saturday morning, causing the train to derail.
According to reports, the accident site is located approximately 126 kilometres from Guwahati. Train services are being disrupted by elephant carcasses and derailed carriages on the tracks.
