40 flights cancelled, several diverted due to bad weather in Delhi

Delhi Smog – Dense fog enveloped the national capital, Delhi, and surrounding areas from Monday morning, and its impact is now being felt on daily life. Due to the dense fog, 40 flights were cancelled while many others were delayed. This caused considerable inconvenience to passengers. Delhi airport authorities shared this information.

Meanwhile, according to the Central Pollution Control Board’s SAMEER app, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital was at a ‘severe’ level of 454 at 7:05 AM. The previous day, Sunday, it had risen to 461. According to the report, this is the second-worst AQI recorded in December.

Delhi Airport issued a travel advisory for passengers on Monday morning, December 15th, warning that flight operations might be affected. This information was also shared on Delhi Airport’s X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Delhi Airport posted important information on its X handle on Monday. The post stated that flight operations might be affected due to dense fog. To minimise inconvenience to passengers, we are working closely with all stakeholders.

For the latest flight updates, passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines. The post further added, “We regret the inconvenience.” IndiGo, which has faced significant disruptions to its flight operations since last week, also issued a statement.

Delhi’s weather remains extremely poor, making it difficult to breathe. Several videos of the capital’s conditions are going viral on social media. You can see in several videos that a thick layer of toxic air is visible in various locations across Delhi, including Akshardham, where the AQI was recorded at 493 according to CPCB data. A similar situation persisted in the national capital on Monday morning.
