Raveena has worked with big superstars like Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Govinda in her career. He made his Bollywood debut in the year 1991 with the film ‘Patthar Ke Phool’.
From cleaning studio floors to cleaning up vomit.
Raveena remembered her early days in an interview given to ‘Mid-Day’ in the year 2022. He had told that soon after passing 10th, he started working with advertising film producer Prahlad Kakkar. During this time she felt that she could earn some pocket money by modelling. Raveena had said, “I have done everything from cleaning the studio floor to cleaning vomit from the floor.” This may sound a bit strange, but it is true. Raveena had done all this before entering the industry.
From free modelling to demanding money
Raveena further told that whenever Prahlad did not come to the set of any model, he used to say – ‘Call Raveena’ and used to ask her to do make-up and pose. Then Raveena thought that if this work has to be done, then why do it again and again for free? With this thinking, she started modeling and started asking for money. Raveena says that she came into this industry by default (by chance), she never dreamed of becoming an actress.
When she rejected Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Dar’
In 2023, Raveena told ANI’s podcast that during her modeling days, she was continuously getting offers from films, but she was not particularly interested in acting. She said that she was the first choice for Yash Chopra’s film ‘Dar’, in which Shahrukh Khan, Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla later worked. But Raveena refused to do this film because she was not comfortable with some scenes. She had said, “Fear came to me first. The film was not obscene, but there were some scenes in it that I was not comfortable with. Like wearing a swimming costume, so I clearly said, ‘ No, I will not wear it.”

Raveena had rejected not only ‘Darr’ but also many other big films. He had said that ‘Prem Qaidi’, with which Karisma Kapoor made her Bollywood debut, was also offered to her. But due to discomfort regarding a scene in the film, he refused to do it. Apart from this, Raveena had also rejected Ajay Devgan’s first film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’, because at that time she was not sure whether she wanted to make a career in acting or not.
Got first film because of Salman Khan
Finally, Raveena made her Bollywood debut with the film ‘Patthar Ke Phool’ opposite Salman Khan. In an interview given to ‘Lehren’ in 2023, he had said that his friend and fellow model Bunty Walia had asked Salman Khan to meet him, because he had come to know that Salman was looking for a new face.
Raveena had said, “At that time my friend Bunty Walia called Salman and said, ‘You should meet this girl; I think she will become a big star in future.’ Salman came separately and saw my work. “I guess it was just luck.” Interestingly, Raveena had said yes to this film only to work with Salman, because her friends wanted to meet Salman.
