Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max vs Vivo X500 Pro Max: So, these are two shiny flagship drops this season, but they don’t really match the same vibe in day-to-day stuff, like in pretty much every part. The Vivo X500 Pro Max came first on September 24, and then the Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max showed up on October 1. One kind of feels like the more value, budget-minded choice with a newer chipset sort of energy, while the other is more expensive and brings its own software ecosystem. Furthermore, neither is officially listed for sale in India right now, so what you see here is more theory than grab it locally. You know how it goes.
Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max vs Vivo X500 Pro Max Price
On cost, the Vivo is the clear winner. In China it kicks off at ¥6,999 for the 12GB + 256GB model, which is roughly €910. The Huawei starts closer to ¥9,499, so around €1,260. Gizmochina says the gap is near $400, with the Huawei around ₹136,000 and the Vivo near ₹100,000. Some other sources mention slightly larger dollar amounts, so treat this as a rough estimate rather than an exact rule of the universe, okay?

Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max vs Vivo X500 Pro Max Display
Both phones go big, but the Vivo looks a little cleaner overall. You get a 6.85-inch panel with 1440 x 3168 resolution and 144 Hz refresh. Huawei instead goes with a 6.9-inch LTPO OLED, 1320 x 2848 resolution, and 120 Hz. For daily use, most people won’t obsess over the resolution difference too much. Still, that extra 24 Hz on the Vivo makes scrolling feel smoother, and gaming feels snappier, almost instantaneously.
Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max vs Vivo X500 Pro Max: Performance and software
Inside, the Vivo uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, built on a 2nm process, and it can boost up to 4.55 GHz. Huawei packs the Kirin 9050 Pro, a 3nm chip with a max clock of 3.1 GHz. Onpaper, the Vivo ise ahead. But in the real world, software tweaks can sway the whole experience more than you’d expect. The Vivo is on Android 17 with OriginOS 7, and it advertises up to 5 major OS upgrades, so you stay in a pretty familiar Android app flow. Huawei runs HarmonyOS 7.0, which is great if you already live in Huawei land, but for most Indian users it could feel slightly less natural; you get my point.

Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max vs Vivo X500 Pro Max Camera
Both phones lean hard into telephoto. The Vivo offers a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide, and a 200MP periscope telephoto with an 85mm equivalent lens, plus solid stabilisation. There’s also 4K video support at 240 fps, and you get a 50 MP selfie camera too. The Huawei setup includes a 50MP main camera, a 200MP telephoto, and a 40MP third sensor. Huawei cameras usually end up being dependable, but I couldn’t land on strong, trusted Mate 90 test results, so I’m not going to call it a winner right now, even though it is a bit tempting.
Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max vs Vivo X500 Pro Max Battery and Charging
This is where they split clearly. Vivo comes with an 8,000 mAh battery, 90W wired charging, and 40W wireless charging. Huawei has a smaller 6,800 mAh battery, but it charges faster, with 100 W wired and 50 W wireless. So the Vivo should usually last longer through the day, while Huawei should refill faster. But yeah, it depends a lot on your schedule, naturally.
Which one should you buy?
If your top goals are better value, longer runtime, and a more standard Android vibe, then the Vivo X500 Pro Max is the safer buy. It costs less, it looks quicker on spec sheets, and the battery is larger. The Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max only really makes sense if you’re already using Huawei services and you specifically want the faster charging. For most people, especially here in India, the Vivo is simply the more practical, sensible option, yep.
