Gold Investment: In recent years, gold has provided remarkable returns for investors. However, it may be time to rethink your investment approach. The brokerage firm Motilal Oswal Financial Services (MOFSL) recommends a gradual investment strategy instead of a lump sum during a bull market.
The firm notes that gold prices are now affected by more than just geopolitical tensions. Key factors like US inflation, interest rates, and real yields are also significantly influencing the market.

Is now the right time to buy gold?
MOFSL advises long-term investors to refrain from making large investments all at once. A more effective strategy might be to invest gradually at various price points.
The brokerage predicts that gold prices could decrease by 6% to 8% from their current levels, followed by a potential price rally in the next 12 to 15 months. For Indian investors, MOFSL identifies the ideal buying range as between Rs 1.30 lakh and Rs 1.33 lakh per 10 grams. They have set a medium-term target of Rs 1.68 lakh, eventually aiming for Rs 1.93 lakh per 10 grams.
Why should you pay attention to interest rates?
Gold does not generate regular income like fixed deposits or bonds, making interest rates a crucial factor in determining gold prices. When real yields increase, investors often shift towards interest-earning investments, which can exert downward pressure on gold. Conversely, anticipated interest rate cuts may enhance gold demand.
The brokerage suggests keeping an eye on US inflation, the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decisions, global liquidity, central bank purchases, and ETF investments in the upcoming months.
What are your thoughts on silver?
Motilal Oswal points out that silver’s price movements are distinct from gold’s, as silver is utilized for both investment and in sectors like electronics, renewable energy, and electrical applications. Consequently, silver prices can be quite volatile, swayed by industrial demand, global economic conditions, investor activity, and interest rates.
What is the advice for investors?
The brokerage believes that gold and silver will remain good options for diversifying portfolios over the long term. However, investors should invest in a disciplined manner rather than chasing short-term gains or losses. It will be more important to monitor inflation, interest rates, and central bank policies.
