Xiaomi Mix Fold 5: Xiaomi is said to be preparing for a robust comeback into the foldable phone space with a meaningful update in its Mix Fold series. While the company is releasing several new phones in China this June, a major insider leak points towards what’s expected next year. A reliable insider has shared information about the revamped Xiaomi Mix Fold, giving a hint towards significant upgrades that may redefine expectations.
Next-generation Xiaomi Mix Fold to provide new aspect ratio
As tipped by Smart Pikachu, Xiaomi is set to revive its horizontally foldable phone series with a new new aspect ratio and other improvements. The name of the current successor is not yet confirmed—it may be the Xiaomi Mix Fold 6 or something different. Though the actual changes were not discussed, the reference to a new aspect ratio indicates a redesign perhaps to improve usability, screen size, or portability.
The Next-gen Mix Fold is tested with a Snapdragon chip
Smart Pikachu’s leak also verifies that the next Mix Fold is being tested with a Snapdragon chipset. While the chip model hasn’t been mentioned, the use of Snapdragon suggests that flagship-level performance is a priority. The testing phase is indicative of serious development and supports rumors of a high-end device in the works. So far, no other such information as camera, battery, or software features have been leaked.
Xiaomi’s tri-foldable smartphone in development
In addition, the latest reports indicate that Xiaomi is developing a tri-foldable phone that looks like the Huawei Mate XT. Codenamed “zhuque” and model number 26013VP46C, this phone may come out in Q1 2026. It is not yet sure whether this tri-foldable will be a follow-up of the Mix Fold series or debut as a standalone model. Xiaomi may launch both a horizontally foldable phone and a tri-fold one next year, diversifying its foldable portfolio.
Several launches scheduled for June 2025
Before its next foldable arrives, Xiaomi will introduce several other devices this month in China. The Mix Flip 2 is likely to come along with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. With it, the firm will introduce the Redmi K80 Ultra based on the Dimensity 9400+ as well as a gaming-oriented tablet. This new tablet will aim to rival the Red Magic gaming tablet and Lenovo Legion Y700 (Gen 4), highlighting Xiaomi’s aggressive approach in different device segments.
