Xiaomi’s big foldable phone: Following a subdued year for the big foldable space, Xiaomi is said to be making its big comeback in 2026. Following a new leak from Digital Chat Station, the brand is developing another generation of horizontal foldable under the Mix Fold series. The new foldable is already in testing and should come with an updated aspect ratio alongside major hardware upgrades. While it’s assured to have a Snapdragon processor, no model number has been disclosed.

Next-Gen Mix Fold Might Witness Major Upgrades

This new report backs a previous claim from reliable tipster Smart Pikachu, who earlier suggested that Xiaomi would revive the Mix Fold series in 2026. The tipster hinted at several enhancements, especially in terms of screen ratio and user experience. The upgraded device is expected to offer better usability and more advanced features, possibly reshaping Xiaomi’s standing in the foldable market.

No Big Foldable from Xiaomi in 2025

Xiaomi also bypassed releasing any major foldable phone in 2025. The previous big one was the Mix Fold 4, which was released in 2024. It featured a 6.56-inch cover screen, a 7.98-inch inner foldable screen, and was driven by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It also included a 5100mAh battery, 67W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging support. In spite of these high-end specs, the phone was criticized for subpar software optimization, which affected multitasking and large-screen performance. 

Expectations from Fold 5 Successor

The upcoming Mix Fold model is expected to address past shortcomings. Xiaomi is reportedly focusing on refining the hinge and reducing crease visibility, both of which are now major factors for buyers.
