Vivo X300 Ultra: Vivo’s next flagship smartphone can make a big bang in the world of mobile photography. China’s famous tipster Digital Chat Station has recently leaked some very exciting information about Vivo X300 Ultra in a Weibo post. If these leaks prove to be true, then Vivo is preparing to compete with Sony’s high-end camera phones this time.
Sony-like zoom technology now in Vivo?
If the leak is to be believed, then for the first time such a telephoto lens will be seen in Vivo X300 Ultra, which will allow “continuous optical zoom” – just like in camera-centric phones like Sony Xperia 1 VII. Till now we used to see either fixed optical zoom in smartphones, or dual-stage setups with two zoom ranges. But continuous zoom gives a completely professional camera experience because in this the lens moves physically from inside so that clarity is maintained – and there is no need for any digital crop.
If Vivo really brings this technology, then this will be the first non-Sony smartphone to have such a feature. And this camera can be a game changer for photography enthusiasts.
Is Sony giving Vivo a special camera sensor?
The most attention-grabbing thing in this news is that according to the leak, Sony can supply a special custom sensor to Vivo for this camera setup. So far, Sony has limited its experimental and high-end sensors only to its Xperia series. But its Zeiss partnership with Vivo and the continuous advancement in the camera is probably forcing Sony to change its policy.
Although the name of this sensor has not been revealed yet, it is definitely believed that this sensor may be specially designed for continuous optical zoom. If this happens, then Vivo can take a big leap in the camera race of Android phones.
Triple 200MP camera: Another big update
Another big surprise is that all three camera sensors in the Vivo X300 Ultra can be 200MP – that is, primary, ultrawide and zoom lens – all three with high-res camera sensors. This will be a unique combination in itself, which can set a new benchmark not only in the megapixel game, but also with quality, processing and optical elements.
It is still a leak, but the source is reliable
It has to be kept in mind that all these things are based only on leaks and there is no official confirmation from Vivo. Vivo’s current camera-centric flagship X200 Ultra is currently limited to China, and the launch of X300 Ultra is also believed to be at least a year away.
But given the reputation of Digital Chat Station, it is certain that Vivo is planning something big – and if Vivo gets hold of this technology from Sony, then a new story can be written in the mobile camera industry.
